I'M THINKING OF BUILDING A NEW HOME. WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR ME TO CONTACT YOU?

The sooner the better! We can help you select which products are best for you and help you with the dimensions.

WHAT SIZE DOES THE ROUGH OPENING NEED TO BE FOR MY NEW GARAGE DOOR INSTALL?

In most cases, the finished opening should be the same size as the door you are looking to have installed. The door fits against the opening from the inside.

I KNOW YOU GIVE FREE ESTIMATES ON NEW GARAGE DOORS & OPENERS.
WHAT ABOUT ESTIMATES ON SERVICE?

Due to the fact that service and repair work involves a site inspection by a qualified field technician, we do charge a minimum service fee to diagnose equipment problems.

HOW DO I GET MY GARAGE DOOR REPAIRED?

Your garage door is the biggest and most dangerous moving thing on your house. Do not attempt to repair your own garage door. Contact us for service at (516) 561-0111 or E-Mail to Reginadoor@gmail.com.

Regular service can extend the life of your door and operator. To ensure a properly working door and operator, we recommend having your garage door serviced at least every other year.

WHERE SHOULD I BUY A NEW FRONT DOOR?

A specialty window and door dealer like Regina Door & Design will have entry door experts that have had training from the factory where the entryways are built. We provide brand name entry door systems, such as Pro-Via, that are not available at Lowe's or Home Depot. We will also come out to your home to obtain measurements as well as help you design your door. We can then generate a picture of the exact design you want so you can see exactly what you are getting before placing your order. You may not realize just how much a new entry system can change the curb appeal of your home!

MY GARAGE DOOR WILL OPEN, BUT WHEN I TRY TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT ONLY GOES DOWN ABOUT 6 INCHES AND THEN REVERSES. WHAT'S WRONG?

There are a few possible problems that might prevent your door from closing after you have opened it. Most commonly, the photo cells are out of alignment or there is an obstruction in the way of the photo cell safety beam.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE JUST ONE SECTION OF MY GARAGE DOOR?

Yes, replacing only a section of your garage door is possible, but depending on the damage involved the entire door may need to be replaced.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXTENSION AND TORSION SPRINGS?

The springs are doing most of the lifting of your garage door. Extension springs run alongside the track to help the door open and close. Over time these springs stretch out offering the opener less help with opening the door. Torsion springs are located above the door opening and generally work together as a pair providing smooth and even operation. Torsion springs offer more control over the door when raising and lowering and are safer than extension springs when they break as they are “contained” on the torsion bar.

WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER AN INSULATED DOOR OVER A NON-INSULATED DOOR?

If you have an attached garage, especially with living space above the garage, your door should be well insulated. Insulation is expressed in R-value. The higher the R-value, the more thermally efficient the door. R-values for insulated residential doors can range anywhere from R-4 to R-19. An insulated garage door will not make your garage warm but it will keep more of the warmth in. Insulated doors are generally more durable, help to reduce noise from the exterior of your home, and can be the difference between cold and freezing.

DO YOU OFFER WARRANTIES FOR YOUR WORK?

We offer a minimum one year warranty on material and workmanship for all installs and repairs. Most of the doors and operators we sell have extended material warranties beyond this first year.

HOW LONG DOES A GARAGE DOOR OPENER LAST?

The average life span of a garage door opener can vary from 10 to 20 years depending on the model, the balance of the door, and how often it is used.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I CONSIDER?

Service! Service should be a major consideration on your new door and opener too. You want to select a company that provides excellent service on their products. This will be important if you ever have to call that company back for warranty work, and also if you need something adjusted ten years down the road. Look for a company that has been providing good service in your area for a long time. Ask your friends who they use. Look for a company involved in your community. These are all indicators that the company has been in business for a long time, plans on being around for a long time, plans on being around for a long time and can help you now and through the future.

WILL YOUR PRICES BE HIGHER THAN LOWE'S OR HOME DEPOT?

YES, but it’s always important to understand what you get for your money. Focusing only on price with replacement doors can create headaches for you down the road.

There are many reasons we end up being more expensive than the big box stores:

  • Our installations are done by our own professionally trained installers, whereas buying from a box store you get whatever sub-contractor they send your way.
  • The shelf price always looks lower, but once you add in any customization, any add ons like weather seal or a motor, etc.; the price can get pretty high pretty quick. Figuring out exactly how to customize can also be a challenge because they might not be too knowledgeable or up to date on everything that is offered.
  • We also include removal and carting away of the old doors and debris.
  • If there’s a problem with the door or installation later on, it might not be easy to get whoever you had installed to come back. On the other hand Regina Door & Design has been in business since 1958, and we don’t plan on going anywhere!
  • So at the end of the day, if price is at the top of your list, then we probably aren’t a good fit. However, if you don’t mind investing a bit more for the best quality installation and timely service on your home, contact Regina Door & Design to set up an appointment today! You can call us at (516) 561-0111 or E-mail to Reginadoor@gmail.com.

TO BE A SMART CONSUMER, WHAT SHOULD I AVOID?

  • A company without an address and physical location.
  • Make sure the company has proper Insurance, Liability, and Workman’s Compensation insurance. Insurance certificates should be available upon request.
  • Anyone that shows up in an unmarked vehicle! A company should be proud of their name.
  • Any company that hasn’t been around very long but offers “too good to be true” warranties.
  • A company with Multiple names, or is unclear about the exact. This is legal, but is generally a move used to avoid warranty and service follow ups.
  • A company who doesn’t offer a free estimate. A sales expert should be experienced enough to know exactly what they need to complete the job to your specifications before any work begins.
