Village in Review: Lynbrook

Situated just 20 miles from Manhattan and 13 miles to the beach, Lynbrook has consistently ranked as a highly desirable neighborhood to live in since its incorporation in 1911. At one time, Lynbrook was Nassau County’s fastest growing village. Besides being perfectly situated with close proximity to the city and beaches, Lynbrook also has a strong community participation rate, in addition is served by its own police and fire departments making it one of the safest villages to live in the United States. Lynbrook schools are also consistently ranked as top schools in the United States.
Many homes in the area have been updated over the last 15 years, yet many homes remain in need of help. A sign of the recent economic recession that has kept expendable cash out of many Americans’ hands. But with the continuous influx of new, younger residents, homes in Lynbrook will become more updated including exteriors, interior, and garage doors.
Most of Lynbrook homes were built between 1920- 1950 and come in a variety of styles. Split level, Dutch Colonial, Colonial, Cape Cods, and Victorians dominate the Lynbrook landscape. Throw in a handful of Contemporary and Queen Annes and you have an overall landscape of Lynbrook homes. Carriage and barn doors would work well with most of these style homes except the contemporary and Queen Annes. A Queen Anne home can incorporate a carriage garage door, or contemporary or modern style depending on color and finish. Contemporary homes would require a contemporary garage door or modern style door.
Due to Long Island’s varying weather, (cold, rainy winters, dry autumns, and hot, humid summers), when choosing a garage door, you should consider longevity and making sure you treat and properly prep your door for the harsh elements of Long Island weather.
